Y6 'INVENT YOUR FUTURE DAY'

As Y6 face challenging times as they approach their SATs, they are also nearing an important milestone in their lives and their education with the transition from Primary to Secondary school.
'Invent Your Future' was a day for the children to discover all the positives that surrond them, to give themselves permission to invent, celebrate and to take responsibility for their own future through group activites and discussions, while developing a positive self image. A great day was had by all!
These are some of comments and observations from the feedback forms:
'I loved the work, it was challenging and creative.'
'We were all treated like adults and at the same time it was fun.'
'The activities were really fun and brought us together.'

Speech & Drama Festival 2017

Over the past few weeks, Year 2 & Year 6 children have worked incredibly hard to practice for their Speech & Drama performance.

Well done to all and huge thanks to all parents/friends who came out to support us. We were Super proud of all the children who have worked so hard. Photos courtsey of Scunthorpe Telegraph.

To mark the 20th  anniversary of World Book Day, the children & staff got into the spirit of things by dressing up as their favourite characters. There was some wonderful costumes. Thank you all for your HUGE efforts!

Playground Projects

We are delighted to welcome Playground Projects to school this week who have created a fabulous area with new playground equipment to make break times, lunchtimes and even some PE lessons particulary exciting for our children.

We put forward a successful bid which was accepted and therefore the money for the majority of this project has been met from Lottery funding.

We are also very grateful to out Friends of Oakfield Group who have contributed towards the project using funds from school parties, discos etc. and to the local council for providing the bark and to British Steel for their donation of sleepers for the site to become possible.

THANKS SO MUCH TO YOU ALL - WE ARE OVER THE MOON .

Scunthorpe Music Festival

The Oakfield choir sang incredibly well and finished in joint 1st place alongside Bottesford Juniors.

We were also excited to hear that at the end of the music festival the choir were also awarded the 'Gordon Mawson Trophy' and bursary for being the most promising choir of the whole festival! Read more on our Scunthorpe Music Festival tab!

Polli:Nation

Oakfield Primary, Holme Valley, Leys Farm, Scawby and Hibaldstow Academy are buzzing with delight having recently discovered that they have been chosen to help to protect the dwindling population of Britain’s pollinating insects.  We are looking for volunteers (family members or friends) who'd be interested in offering sometime to help. Read more on our Polli:Nation tab!
