A big hearted little boy has cycled 20 miles and raised over £250 for his local hospice.

The Hospice, on Burringham Road is run as an independent charity to provide free of charge, specialist care to North Lincolnshire people with any progressive life-limiting illness, and supports their family and carers during illness and into bereavement.

Logan’s Grandad Steve Price has already completed three Coast-to-Coast cycle rides in aid of the hospice, which inspired Logan.

Steve said: “Logan told us he wanted to do a cycle ride like me and give the money to the lovely ladies who looked after Grandad Mike, which made our family so proud. So we helped him make his wish come true.”

Logan completed four circuits around the Vale of Pickering, while on holiday with his grandparents, over three hours with lots of rests in between, and was sponsored by friends and family.

Jo (48) has also been doing her own fundraising for the hospice. She recently braved the elements to complete a gruelling 44 mile, two-day trek along the Bronte Way with friend Michelle Evison, raising £540.

Lindsey Lodge Fundraiser Sharon Tune said: “Wow what a family! Both Steve and Jo have already done so much, and now Logan is following in their footsteps.

“He’s a real inspiration and such a little ray of sunshine; it was a pleasure to meet him.”

She added: “On behalf of everyone at Lindsey Lodge we’d like to say a massive thank you to Logan along with Jo, Steve and Michelle for all of their support!”

KS2 Sports Day

On Friday 16th, our annual KS2 Sports Day took place . Once all the Classes and Staff had taken their places, Mrs. Herrick made sure everyone was ready to go by getting each house to cheer as loudly as they could and remember the school value of “teamwork”.

It was so encouraging to see each Year Group work together so well in their house point teams with lots of cheering each other on, regardless of which house point team was in the lead.

We would like to thank all adults who came out to encourage their children during the afternoon which had been held in such a supportive atmosphere.

Congratulations to Beckham who were the overall winners.

Great British Oakfield Street Party

Thank you so much to everyone for coming out to support us our Great British Oakfield Street Party to end our week of learning about British Values. We were so lucky with the fabulous weather and raised a massive £1003.24!!!!!! Wow!!
We have some ideas on how to spend this on the children and will let you know when a firm decision has been made.
We are so lucky to have such supportive parents/grandparents/friends of the school.

New School Library Opening

On Monday, the children had a fantastic afternoon, met our special celebrity guest, Annie Fanny, as we celebrated the opening of our new school library. Everyone laughed as the delighted children told their favourite jokes, practiced their spellings and discussed the power of books. The school also recieved a generous donation of £250 from the Scunthorpe Lions which has already been spent on new books. What an amazing afternoon!

The Lincolnshire Environment Awards

Congratulations to our Environment Team who came 3rd from all of the enteries competing in the whole of Lincolnshire in the 'Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Award 2017.' Y6 'INVENT YOUR FUTURE' DAY

As Y6 face challenging times as they approach their SATs, they are also nearing an important milestone in their lives and their education with the transition from Primary to Secondary school.
'Invent Your Future' was a day for the children to discover all the positives that surrond them, to give themselves permission to invent, celebrate and to take responsibility for their own future through group activites and discussions, while developing a positive self image. A great day was had by all!
These are some of comments and observations from the feedback forms:
'I loved the work, it was challenging and creative.'
'We were all treated like adults and at the same time it was fun.'
'The activities were really fun and brought us together.'

We are also very grateful to out Friends of Oakfield Group who have contributed towards the project using funds from school parties, discos etc. and to the local council for providing the bark and to British Steel for their donation of sleepers for the site to become possible. THANKS SO MUCH TO YOU ALL - WE ARE OVER THE MOON .
